Transform Your Home with Expert Interior Wall Painting Solutions
Walls: We use PPG Silken Touch in an Egg-Shell sheen for most of our projects in O'Fallon. Occasionally, we will use Sherwin-Williams Duration as well.
For those that prefer non-VOC paints, we use Sherwin-Williams Harmony® wall paint in Egg-Shell. This paint is very unique in its qualities. Harmony is a zero VOC formula that helps reduce common indoor odors from your pets, cooking, and smoke to help improve air quality and help rooms stay fresher, longer. Harmony contains new technology that helps improve indoor air quality by reducing VOC levels from potential sources like carpet, cabinets, and fabrics. It also gives your walls a washable, durable finish.
This acrylic paint is GreenGuard® Indoor Air Quality Certified and GreenGuard® Certified for Children and Schools. The length of time Harmony actively reduces odors and formaldehyde depends on the concentration, the frequency of exposure, and the amount of painted surface area. This product contains agents that inhibit the growth of mold and mildew on the surface of this paint film. There is simply no other paint on the market like it. Our rep at Sherwin-Williams has secured an exceptional price for Selah Painting, and we pass those savings on to you.
Ceilings: We use PPG Porter Ceiling White® for all ceilings because it is the best on the market. This paint is perfect for light reflection. It has great hiding, one coat coverage on most ceilings, excellent uniformity, prevents flat and glossy spots, great touch-up, and is non-yellowing. On top of that, we get it for a good price and pass those savings on to you.
Wood Trim: We use Sherwin-Williams Emerald® Interior/Exterior Urethane Trim Enamel paint in Semi-gloss for all of our interior wood trim and exterior doors. It has a smooth and luxurious finish for doors and trim. Emerald delivers a finish that withstands wear and tear and goes on in fewer coats. It is perfect for areas that are cleaned frequently. An interior/exterior water-based urethane modified alkyd with the look and feel of an alkyd/oil finish. No other trim enamel compares to the durability of this paint or the coverage. The coverage almost guarantees one coat coverage over most wood trim in your home. That is why this product is more expensive than other trim enamels, but one gallon stretches 350-400 sq ft, so one to two gallons is usually all that is needed for the average project, thus keeping the extra cost fairly low.

Choosing the Right Sheen for the Perfect Finish
Flat: This sheen has no shine to it at all.
Pros: It hides imperfections on your walls and touches up better than any other sheen.
Cons: Flat is too porous and therefore it gets dirtier quicker, receives a lot more scuff marks and scratches, and is not easily washable. The higher grade flat paints are more washable than the lower grade ones, but still not very washable. I usually do not recommend flat on any walls unless you do not like any shine at all. I never suggest flat for woodwork. I do, however, recommend flat for ceilings.
Eggshell/Matte/Low Luster/Flat Enamel: These paints have a slight shine to them.
Pros: It is washable and fairly easy to touch up.
Cons: Since it does have a slight shine, if the imperfections on the walls are not repaired, they will be more noticeable than with flat paint. I usually recommend this sheen for walls. I do not recommend it for ceilings or woodwork.
Satin/Medium Luster: This paint has a noticeable shine to it.
Pros: It is a lot more washable, especially the higher quality paints. It also looks very good on walls when most of the imperfections are repaired.
Cons: If you do not have the imperfections on your walls repaired, they will be more visible with this sheen. This sheen can also be recommended for woodwork. It is not recommended for ceilings.
Pearl: A sheen in between Satin and Semigloss.
Semi-gloss: This paint is very shiny.
Pros: It is the most washable and durable sheen.
Cons: Non-repaired imperfections are more noticeable. This sheen is not recommended for walls. It is a great choice for woodwork due to its high washability and resistance to dirt. It is not recommended on ceilings.
